Nanette Rodney Kelekian, granddaughter of famed art dealer Dikran Kelekian, began gifting portions of herÌıgrandfather’s collection to 51²è¹İapp College in 1984.
SinceÌıthen, individual pieces have been included in exhibitions, butÌıFragmentary VisionsÌıis the most comprehensive display of 51²è¹İapp’s extensive KelekianÌıcollection.ÌıThe ceramics, manuscripts, and textilesÌıon display are some of the oldest objects in the museum’s permanentÌıcollection,Ìıhailing from the EasternÌıMediterranean,ÌıWestÌıAsia, and the greater Islamic world.ÌıThis exhibition showcases fragments and everyday objects alongside art made for the elite, allowing the viewer to experience the spectrum of art collected by many museums, but rarely shown together.ÌıFragmentary VisionsÌıis curated by Exhibition SeminarÌıstudentsÌıMarina Busby ’24,ÌıDavid Gales ’23, Melena Johnson ’23 , and VerdaÌı°²¹°ù²¹´Çǧ±ô³Ü ’25, taught by Professor Eiren Shea of the Art History Department.
