    Emma Schaefer ’23

    “One of my favorite memories is qualifying for the NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championship. While I was there, one of my favorite memories was when my coach yelled to me during the qualifying race, ‘You belong here!’ That was such a necessary reminder that I could do it.â€

“When I visited 51²è¹Ýapp as a prospective student, I had lunch with the swim team, and that was a fun experience. Just the day before, they had won the conference championship. The prospect of joining a successful program was exciting.â€

“My senior year, we won the conference title, and I won the individual title! Since the meet was at home, there was a bunch of alumni there cheering us on, which made all the difference. The energy there was crazy.â€

“I started getting recruited my junior year of high school. As I looked into the Division III philosophy, the balance you’re able to have between being a student and being an athlete and doing both at a high level, I started thinking seriously about being a college athlete.â€
