Joyce Bergan is an Academic Assistant for the Department of Studio Art, as well as Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies at 51²è¹Ýapp College. As an AMA of Music, she currently also teaches accordion. In her youth, Joyce studied piano, was church organist, and participated in many statewide vocal and instrumental competitions. Being raised in a musical family, Joyce spent many years playing all types of music with her siblings and cousins, and traveled southern Minnesota playing events. In one band Joyce played drums and French horn; and later played keyboard, accordion and electric bass in another band. Most recently Joyce is learning to play upright bass to become more familiar with bluegrass music. She learned to play mostly old time and country music on the accordion, but her love of all music makes it easy for her to help students who are interested in other genres.
