Emily Creery
Exploratory Adviser
Emily (she/her) is passionate about empowering students to build a life that allows them to celebrate their authentic and unique selves, ambitions, and interests. By encouraging students to dig deeper through self-reflection, Emily supports 51²è¹İappians as they challenge systemic, societal, and internal structures on their way to being the favorite versions of themselves professionally and personally.
“It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing. It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool --- for love, for your dreams, for the adventure of being alive.†This quote, beloved by Emily, embodies her approach to career coaching. She was first introduced to it when she discovered her Myers-Briggs Type (ENFP). Since it is a great privilege to love the work you do, Emily thoroughly enjoys navigating big ideas (and existential crises) as students engage with the daunting question: “What do you want to be when you grow up?â€
In addition to her work, Emily tends to take advantage of small talk to initiate what Oprah calls “Super Soul Conversations,†has a bleeding heart for animals of all kinds, considers herself to be a film buff, reads books in search of understanding herself and the human condition, and sometimes makes up songs to (horribly) serenade her cat.
