Hai-Dang Phan has taught ethnic American literature, the craft of poetry, introduction to literary analysis, and studies in genre (the essay).Ìý
He is a 2017 National Endowment for the Arts Fellow in Creative Writing.ÌýHis poems have been published inÌýThe New Yorker,ÌýPoetry,ÌýBest American Poetry 2016,ÌýNew England Review, and elsewhere.ÌýHe is the recipient of fellowships and scholarships from the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference, the American Literary Translators Association, and the Thomas J. Watson Foundation. His writing has been honored with the Frederick Bock Prize from Poetry magazine and the Emerging Writers Award from New England Review.Ìý
Born in Vietnam, he came to the U.S. as a refugee and grew up in Wisconsin. He holds anÌýMFA from the University of FloridaÌýand a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He lives in Des Moines, Iowa.Ìý
