My research focuses on cultural interactions between Japanese and Koreans in the process of decolonization across a wide range of media, including literature, theater, and performance, with a particular interest in the history of Zainichi Koreansā€”Koreans who migrated to Japan under Japanese colonial rule and their descendants who remain in Japan.

My first book project examines transnational theatrical performances co-produced by Japanese and Zainichi Koreans after the end of Japanese colonial rule (1910-1945). My analysis of this transnational cultural exchange especially considers the ways in which an intersubjective understanding of decolonization is negotiated in the production process.

I received my Ph.D. in East Asian Languages and Literatures at the University of California, Irvine (2019). Before joining 51²č¹Żapp College, I taught at Williams College (2019-2023).
