Preparing for Graduate Study in the Health Professions

Health Professions Advisory Committee��

The Health Professions Advisory Committee (HPAC) at 51��app College coordinates activities to prepare students for application to health professional graduate schools. Committee advisors help students with curriculum planning and are responsible for the preparation of committee letters of recommendation. The HPAC works closely with the (CLS), which can help students and young alumni explore health care fields, find internship opportunities and community connections, think about the personal statement, and prepare for interviews. Wondering how many medical or professional schools to apply to? Not sure which schools should be on your list? This seminar will equip you with strategies to evaluate programs beyond metrics like GPA and admissions test scores to create a list that truly fits you.

Lunch & Learn: AMCAS and AACOMAS Orientation

Learn the basics of applying to professional school through centralized application services. Although we will focus primarily on AMCAS and AACOMAS, anyone applying to a health professions program this summer is invited to attend as many of the CAS services use the same platform. Updates/changes to the applications for the upcoming cycle will be shared and there will be time for attendee questions.

In this presentation titled “Consideration of the Whole Person,” Darrell Nabers, Ed.D., the assistant dean for admissions at Loyola’s Stritch School of Medicine, will share his expert insights for crafting a competitive medical school application and explain the holistic review process. Lunch and Learn: Situational Judgement Tests for Med/Prof School Applications

Learn about online situational judgment tests required for applicants to medical and health professions programs. We’ll cover the basics of the AAMC PREview exam, the Altus Suite (CASPer, Snapshot, and Duet), and VITA and we’ll explore resources to help you prepare for these assessments.
