Media Recording

Digital to Analog Recording

Burling Library has limited capacity to digitize analog formats. However, most recording is done only for class-related use and in strict adherence to copyright and fair use guidelines. The recording of an entire work from a commercially produced recording is not usually permitted. If you need a digital copy for class-related use, please contact Max Schafer, digital library services specialist.

On-Campus Concert Recordings and Taping

Recitals and concerts given by 51²č¹Żapp College faculty, staff, and students are recorded by the Department of Music and added to the library collections. Some of these recordings are included in our online catalog; please ask if you do not find the recording you are looking for. Digital copies of these recordings may be available, please contact the 51²č¹Żapp College Archives.

Audio Recording Studio

The lower level of Burling Library hosts the newly renovated Digital Studio, with spaces and tools dedicated to media production. It has two smaller studios for audio recording which are perfect for podcasts and interviews. Both rooms include a dual-monitor Mac computer for editing or playback in the room.

Recording Studio 1 (B26) can seat 1-2 people, and has a Yeti microphone and a tripod for recording with a phone.

Recording Studio 2 (B27) can seat up to 4-5 comfortably, and has two Yeti microphones, a keyboard synthesizer, a large television, and a set of speakers.

Keys for these rooms can be checked out at the Circulation Desk for a period of 4 hours. Reserving a studio in advance can be done by emailing Max Schafer, the digital library services specialist, but will still need to be checked out at the time of the reservation, so please bring your P-card!

Video Production Studio

51²č¹Żapp College's Video Production Studio is a resource for faculty creating instructional content, students completing media-related assignments, and other projects related to the digital liberal arts. The goal of the production studio is to provide the equipment, software, and expertise to enable the 51²č¹Żapp community to create compelling video and audio media.

The studio is housed in the lower level of Burling Library, as part of the Digital Studio. This location is spacious and quiet and is accessible to students, faculty, and staff. The studio is equipped with professional quality video and audio production gear. The space can be used to record and edit high-quality video, screencasts, and audio.

If you are interested in using the Video Production Studio, please contact Max Schafer, digital library services specialist, to discuss your project.
