Sebring-Lewis

Music Facilities

Music facilities are located in Bucksbaum Arts Center, located on the south-west side of campus.

Sebring-Lewis Hall

The Sebring-Lewis stage with a grand piano under a spotlight

Sebring-Lewis Hall opened in 1999. The venue can seat over 300 people, and hosts 30-40 events per semester, including music department ensembles, student recitals, and world-class guest performers. One of the first ensembles to perform in the hall, the American String Quartet, described it as “one of the two or three best halls in the country for chamber music.†The rich colors and cherry wood details in the hall make it as beautiful aesthetically as it is acoustically.

Cornell World Music Room

a variety of musical instruments are stored on shelves and walls with more on display in the middle of the room

The Cornell World Music Room hosts an incredible collection of instruments from around the world, and is home to the Zimbabwean M’Bira and Balinese Sounds ensembles.

Egan Early Music Room

The Egan Early Music Room is home to our prized Early Instrument Collection and hosts a variety of small-ensemble rehearsals and lessons. Whether learning a baroque dance step, or jamming on some bossa nova melodies, you’ll feel right at home here.

Staubitz Rehearsal Room

Staubitz hosts large-ensemble rehearsals and percussion lessons. The open layout and high ceilings are perfect for Orchestra, Symphonic Band, and Percussion Ensemble. The room is equipped with media players for audio and video playback, as well as adjustable curtains to allow for some flexibility with the acoustic environment.

Electronic Music Studio

Practice Rooms

We have a variety of individual practice and lesson rooms, including dedicated rooms for percussion, harp, and strings. Additionally, other performance and rehearsal spaces may be reserved for special cases.
