PACS Event Funding

Peace and Conflict Studies (PACS) welcomes requests for funding for speakers, programs and attendance at workshops/conferences that are related to the PACS mission statement and that contribute to promoting meaningful dialogue and peacebuilding.

PACS Mission Statement

Violence, injustice, and intractable conflict are among the most pressing problems we face today. The Peace and Conflict Studies program seeks to promote understanding of the causes of conflict and to apply creative strategies for its peaceful resolution in our community, our nation and our world.

Criteria for Reviewing and Granting Funding

Requests

  1. Extent to which proposal addresses PACS Program mission statement in this order of priority:
    1.  conflict analysis, resolution/transformation or peace making strategies
    2. prevention of and/or restorative response to violence or violations of human dignity
    3. environmental, economic, and social justice projects for the promotion of human rights
  2. Benefit for and impact on campus community
  3. Cost commensurate with benefit.

Proposal Format

Please submit a one-page summary requesting PACS Program support for an event, a project, or attendance at a workshop or conference which includes the following in this order:

  1. Name and contact information for the person, organization making the request and date of request.
  2. What are you requesting from the PACS Program?
  3. Describe the event, workshop, conference or project, including dates.
  4. How does this relate to Peace and Conflict Studies? (Please refer to the mission statement and criteria above.)
  5. Organizations involved in sponsoring this event/project/conference/workshop
  6. Proposed budget
  7. Funding that has already been procured and who else you are requesting funding from/any deadlines?
  8. Attach a short biography for each presenter, and/or an announcement for the conference/speaker or workshop.
