51²è¹Ýapp College collaborates with regional institutions to secure NSF grant supporting high-performance computing in Iowa

51²è¹Ýapp College is proud to be part of a team led by the University of Northern Iowa that recently received prestigious grant from the to advance high-performance computing capabilities in the Midwest. 

³Ò°ù¾±²Ô²Ô±ð±ô±ô’s Charlotte Christensen, Associate Professor of Physics, and Mike Conner, Linux Systems Administrator, are key members of the collaborative team awarded the grant titled "High-performance computing solutions for small Midwest institutions" (OAC- 2346616) through the NSF's Campus Cyberinfrastructure program. Macalester College, Central College, and Coe College will join 51²è¹Ýapp and the University of Northern Iowa on this project. 

The grant, totaling $173,368 over one year, aims to facilitate the planning and development of a regional high-performance computing network. ³Ò°ù¾±²Ô²Ô±ð±ô±ô’s portion of the grant amounts to $21,259. Participating institutions will convene to strategize on addressing research and classroom needs through high-performance computing, identifying opportunities to utilize centralized resources effectively. The project will explore avenues to expand the network to encompass other local institutions, including community colleges.
