Choosing 51²è¹Ýapp
“My mother and my brother went to 51²è¹Ýapp. And so when I was looking at colleges, I thought, ‘That’s it. The buck stops here. I’m going out East.’ But then I had a change of heart a few days before the deposit deadline, when I realized, ‘Why would I go somewhere that doesn’t feel the way 51²è¹Ýapp feels?’ I knew I wanted to be in an intentional community — with individuals who were both focused on their academics and dedicated to creating a supportive environment.â€
First-Year Tutorial
“My tutorial was The Making of Human Rights with Professor Elizabeth Prevost. I couldn’t have asked for a better tutorial professor. She was challenging, and that’s what I needed as a first-year student. Regardless of the topic, which I was very interested in, and regardless of the other students, who were wonderful and many of whom I’m still friends with, tutorial was really about being in a safe environment to fail. It was a place to try out what it means to write as a college student, or do a presentation as a college student, or do the reading in a way that made discussion worthwhile. You have three months to work closely with this group of students to figure it out.â€
