Room Split ProcedureÂ
The room split procedure will only apply to doubles, triples, quads, mini co-ops, off-campus, project houses, and language houses occupied by one or more students studying abroad. The room split procedure requires that students pair up with a student who plans to study abroad the opposite semester or with a December graduate. Single-room splits will not be honored unless the student is residing in Renfrow Hall, and both students have applied for and been accepted into Renfrow Hall.Â
Fall Semester - Students Abroad / Leave of AbsenceÂ
All students studying abroad during the fall semester will NOT participate in room selection. Residence Life will reach out to students studying abroad in November and provide them with instructions on how to complete the Spring Only housing contract. Students who want to request off-campus permission for the spring term must use the room split procedure and apply for off-campus in the spring before going abroad (if space allows). Students should refer to the off-campus housing page, and not sign a lease unless released to off-campus housing by Residence Life. Failure to obtain permission to live off-campus will result in the student still being responsible for both room and board. Students on a leave of absence MUST be approved to return from leave by the College before they can proceed with residency requests/placement. Students returning to campus for the spring semester will be prioritized by class year prior to placement. Assignments for the spring semester are finalized in mid-December.Â
Spring Semester - Students Abroad / Leave of AbsenceÂ
Students on a leave of absence must be officially approved to return before application dates and deadlines in order to be considered for those residential and/or off-campus options (off-campus requests, and Room selection). Students on a leave of absence will not be eligible for housing on-campus or off-campus until they are approved to return from leave by the College.Â
Students requesting permission to live off-campus in the fall will be prioritized by class year. The number of students who receive an off-campus offer will be determined based on projected total enrollment for the fall term. There is no guarantee that seniors or second-semester juniors will be offered the opportunity to live off-campus for the fall term. Students are not approved to live off-campus UNTIL they receive an offer from the Residence Life Department.  Students will receive off-campus offers prior to room selection. Â
