Global Teaching Opportunities

Primary opportunities for faculty to engage in IGE programs are listed below.

51²è¹Ýapp-in-London

51²è¹Ýapp-in-London (GIL) is a longstanding and flagship off-campus study opportunity for tenured or tenure-track faculty at 51²è¹Ýapp. The classroom space is centrally located and staffed by our education abroad partner at Arcadia Abroad in London. The space allows convenient access to museums, galleries, libraries, and other institutions. A hallmark of the program is intensive interaction with London itself through field trips and regional excursions designed and planned by the 51²è¹Ýapp faculty leaders. GIL offers students and faculty who teach on the program the opportunity to learn as a community about this dynamic place, its history, and its people through a careful selection of courses, cultural integration, and co-curricular activities.

Prospective GIL leaders are encouraged to contact Susie Duke, director of 51²è¹Ýapp-in-London, to discuss ideas and login to .

Faculty-Led Learning Across the Globe (FLAG) Programs

Faculty-led Learning Across the Globe (FLAG) programs take students on an investigation of a new place, culture, ecosystem, or region during a break with a faculty member or a team of faculty members. These include the Global Learning Program and Course-Embedded Travel.

Building an education abroad experience is typically a 12- to 18-month process. Prospective program leaders are encouraged to email Ashley Laux, Associate Director, Faculty-led Learning Across the Globe to discuss questions or potential program ideas. It may also be helpful to talk with experienced colleagues who have led past programs.

Visiting Fellows

The International Visiting Fellows program allows 51²è¹Ýapp faculty to bring scholars and artists from international locations to 51²è¹Ýapp, for a minimum stay of two weeks to teach a short course or course unit within an existing academic department.
