Visiting Scholars

51²è¹Ýapp's academic departments regularly invite international visiting fellows to campus to teach a short course or team-teach an existing course. The Institute for Global Engagement (IGE) funds approximately 10 visits per year and also collaborates with departments to bring year-long visiting faculty.

Language Instructors

51²è¹Ýapp’s language departments bring language teaching assistants each year. These are native speakers who teach part-time and also take courses part-time. Language assistants help students practice oral, listening, reading, and writing skills. They are an invaluable asset to language learning at 51²è¹Ýapp.

Visiting Fellows

The International Visiting Fellows program allows 51²è¹Ýapp faculty to bring scholars and artists from international locations to 51²è¹Ýapp, for a minimum stay of two weeks to teach a short course or course unit within an existing academic department. Fellows also give a public presentation during their stay on campus. This is an excellent way to complement a department’s curriculum and to introduce students to a scholar or artist who works outside the United States.

Heath Professorship

Endowed in honor of John Reardon Heath, 51²è¹Ýapp Class of 1919, who was an active member and President of the 51²è¹Ýapp Board of Trustees and gave steadfast support to 51²è¹Ýapp’s long and continuing engagement with the world, the Heath Professorship bring to 51²è¹Ýapp College the most distinguished international figures for a semester-length stay.
